Biography

Ivan Rakitić is a Croatian professional football player. He was born on March 10, 1988, in Switzerland but represents the Croatian national team in international competitions. Rakitić primarily plays as a central midfielder but can also operate as an attacking or defensive midfielder. He started his professional career at the Swiss club Basel in 2005, where he won several league titles before moving to Schalke 04 in the Bundesliga in 2007. After a successful spell in Germany, he joined Sevilla in 2011, where he experienced tremendous success, including winning the UEFA Europa League in 2014. In 2014, Rakitić made a notable move to Barcelona and became an integral part of their midfield. During his six-year tenure at the club, he won numerous domestic and international titles, including four La Liga titles and the UEFA Champions League in 2015. He played alongside legendary players such as Lionel Messi and Andrés Iniesta. Rakitić is known for his technical abilities, precise passing, and versatility on the field. He has represented Croatia in multiple international tournaments, including the FIFA World Cup, where he helped his team reach the final in 2018. With over 100 caps for the national team, he is considered one of the most influential Croatian players of his generation. In 2020, after six successful seasons at Barcelona, Rakitić returned to Sevilla, where he continues to showcase his skills and experience.
