Biography

Yassine Bounou is a professional football player from Morocco. He was born on April 5, 1991, in Montreal, Canada. Bounou primarily plays as a goalkeeper. He began his football career in the youth teams of Wydad Casablanca in Morocco before moving to Spain to join Atletico Madrid's youth system in 2008. During his time at Atletico Madrid, Bounou also spent loan spells at Real Zaragoza B and Real Zaragoza. In 2015, he signed a contract with Girona FC, a second division team in Spain. Bounou played a significant role in helping Girona achieve promotion to La Liga in the 2016-2017 season. In August 2020, Bounou transferred to Sevilla FC, a top-tier Spanish club, for a reported fee of €4 million. He quickly established himself as the first-choice goalkeeper for the team and has had notable performances in both domestic and European competitions. Bounou has also represented the Moroccan national team. He made his international debut in 2016 and has since become a regular member of the squad, competing in tournaments like the Africa Cup of Nations and the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
