Football Club Tirol, commonly known as FC Tirol, is a professional football club based in Innsbruck, Austria. The club was founded in 1986 and currently competes in the Austrian Football Second League, which is the second tier of Austrian football.
FC Tirol has a successful history, having won several national titles in the past. They won the Austrian Bundesliga four times in the 1990s (1994, 1995, 2000, 2002) and also lifted the Austrian Cup in 1993 and 1999. During this period, the club also enjoyed success in European competitions, reaching the UEFA Cup quarterfinals in the 1993-1994 season.
After financial difficulties, the club was dissolved in 2002 and reestablished as Wacker Innsbruck. However, in 2018, the club regained its original name and relaunched as FC Tirol.
The club's home matches are played at Tivoli-Neu stadium, which has a capacity of approximately 16,000 spectators. The team's traditional colors are black and white.
In recent years, FC Tirol has been aiming to regain its former glory and compete at the highest level of Austrian football. The team consists of a mix of experienced players and young talents, aiming to develop and showcase their skills to attract attention from bigger clubs.
As of September 2021, FC Tirol is in the Austrian Football Second League and working towards promotion back to the top tier.
